Ian Fisher solves business problems. He is an effective advocate and dedicated to his clients’ interests. Recognizing that business litigation is an extension of business management, Mr. Fisher seeks to provide precise, strategic legal solutions for his clients.
Mr. Fisher has had a wide array of business litigation experience, including in the context of class actions. In addition to traditional contractual disputes, he has successfully handled business interference, antitrust, intellectual property, trade secret misappropriation, non-competition covenant, franchise agreement, consumer fraud, real estate, and employment discrimination disputes. Mr. Fisher successfully defended on appeal several of his trial court victories. Mr. Fisher has received widespread recognition of his work. Super Lawyers has repeatedly named Mr. Fisher to its list of top attorneys, specifically recognizing him as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Illinois, including in the current year. Leading Lawyers Network has consistently named Mr. Fisher as a "Leading Lawyer" in both Commercial Litigation and Class Action/Mass Tort Defense. Mr. Fisher was also named among "Forty Illinois Attorney's Under 40 to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, publisher of Chicago Lawyer and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
Within the firm, Mr. Fisher serve’s as the General Counsel, advising his partners on legal matters relating to the firm’s practice. He also serves as the Judge Advocate (General Counsel) of the Chicago Yacht Club. Mr. Fisher is a co-chair of the ABA Litigation Section’s Trial Evidence Committee and previously cochaired its Pretrial Practice and Discovery Committee. He has served the Chicago Bar Association in a variety of capacities, including on its Board of Managers.
Mr. Fisher frequently writes and speaks on topics related to business litigation, including class actions, civil procedure, e-discovery, and expert testimony. Mr. Fisher is a member of the Illinois State Bar. He is also a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Appellate Court of the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. Appellate Court for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois (including its trial bar) and the Eastern District of Wisconsin..
Mr. Fisher graduated cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law in 1994. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Grinnell College in 1991, where he was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board, Inc. In addition, Mr. Fisher attended the London School of Economics & Political Science from 1989 through 1990, reading in government.
